Antioxidant Activity
VISION, BRAIN, AND OTHER HEALTH ISSUES RELATED TO AGING MAY IMPROVE WITH BLACKCURRANT

New Zealand Blackcurrant berries contain up to five times more antioxidants than blackcurrant berries grown in other regions of the world.  The factors of harsh climate (cold winters, hot summers, long sunshine hours, strong UV rays) activate the berry’s internal defense mechanism, thus increasing the production of anthocyanins.

Furthermore, the “Ben Ard” cultivar of blackcurrant berry, grown on Just the Beries’ farm in New Zealand, scored more than twice as high as blueberries and six times higher than red grapes in ORAC testing; evidence of the magnificent antioxidant properties of New Zealand Blackcurrant.

BLACKCURRANTS MAY COMBAT BRAIN AND VISION ILLNESSES

H202 scavenging activities are higher in New Zealand Blackcurrants than in other fruits. A great deal of scientific research shows that oxidative stress, free radicals and hydrogen peroxide (H202) damage are a leading cause in many of today’s common illnesses including vision and brain deterioration, and numerous health issues related to advanced aging.
